Where do you go for help when you need to prep a Bible lesson for kids? I’ve listed 7 of my favorites below—along with a recommended post from each! Plus, I’ve nominated each of these ladies for the Blogger Recognition Award. Scroll down to discover my “go-to” resources for teaching the Bible to kids.
You’re scheduled to teach Sunday School.
You knew all week that you needed to prep your lesson. But you just hit 11 p.m. on Saturday night and you still haven’t found time to do it.
You need a super fun & super meaningful Bible lesson for kids—and you need it ASAP.
Sound familiar?
It does to me!
That’s why I started blogging here at BibleBaton, in fact.
Too many times I found myself in a crunch before teaching a Bible lesson.
I wanted a solid lesson that was also interesting to the kids. And I needed it to be easy to prep.
But it was hard to find what I needed. I always ended up piecing together my own lessons.
And I realized that if I was doing that every time I had to teach a lesson, there were probably other ladies out there who were in the same trouble.
So I started putting together Bible lessons, activity ideas, craft ideas, printables, and Bible study tips. And that’s what you’ll find here at BibleBaton.com:

3 resources for preparing yourself to teach the Bible the kids
No matter how rushed you are, it’s important to prepare your own heart for teaching the Bible to kids.
1) Alyssa at AlyssaJHoward.com
One of my favorite places to find Bible-based encouragement is AlyssaJHoward.com.
I really appreciate Alyssa’s humble, sincere heart! It comes through clearly in her writing. As a result, all of her posts encourage and strengthen.
And Alyssa knows what she’s talking about, too. I have consistently found that her posts are filled with solid biblical truth.
If you’re feeling harried and discouraged and that you’re in no position to effectively teach the Bible to your kiddoes, then you need to check out Alyssa’s blog. I think you will be refreshed and encouraged through her!
A recommended post from Alyssa: “When Your Children Want Nothing To Do with God.”
2) Amanda at Bless Your Heart and Home
I appreciate Amanda so much!!
She keeps each post on her blog simple and focused.
Everything she shares is practical and useful.
And her heartfelt desire to encourage and to bless is obvious in every post, too.
I’ve been super encouraged by Amanda’s blog. And I really appreciate how useful her posts are.
But I’ve been most encouraged by messages we’ve exchanged on Instagram and via email. In fact, recently Amanda graciously shared with me several tips for blogging as a Christian. I really appreciated her perspective.
For any other ladies out there who may be interested in blogging, I just have one piece of advice:
Create a blog that is meaningful and useful in light of eternity.
When I first started blogging, I posted about food. Nothing wrong with food—I love it, in fact! But eventually I decided if I was going to put words onto the Internet for others to read, they needed to be really worthwhile. I knew I needed to be as helpful as possible to my readers. And I can’t imagine anything more important than passing God’s truth along to young souls. That’s why I blog about teaching the Bible to kids.
So if you’re thinking of blogging, too, my advice to you is to write about something that is truly useful and meaningful.

3) Ellen at Scripture Confident Living
Ellen is a newer blogger, but her content is solid!
She’s not messing around or diluting anything—she’s out to enable Christian women to dig deep into the Word of God with confidence.
Her posts contain no-nonsense instructions and tips for how to study the Bible well. And everything is delivered in a straightforward, easy-to-follow format.
If you want to do more than blindly follow your Sunday School curriculum, then you should check out Ellen’s site. She can help you dig into the Scriptures for yourself—with confidence!

2 sources for Bible lesson plans
I specialize in Bible lessons for kids. But I haven’t been at this as long as some other people have, so I’ve only written lessons on a few topics so far.
If you’re looking for lesson plans from all over Scripture, I know a few ladies who might help you!
4) Debbie at Bible Fun for Kids
Debbie’s site is an incredible resource!! She’s been posting Bible lessons, printables, activities, and more since 2012—so she’s got a LOT to offer.
Seriously, when I get stuck prepping a lesson, this is one of the first sites I check. Every time.
My favorite thing about Debbie’s posts is how many types of resources she includes. She often has fantastic visual aids—and sometimes there are coloring pages that go along with the visuals. Very cool!
Plus, she usually includes some kind of fun idea for supplementing the lesson.
And if you’re looking for bulletin board ideas, she even includes some of those!
So go check out Bible Fun for Kids. Search whatever story or topic you’re teaching currently. I can almost guarantee you’ll find something helpful!

Your kids will love her creative illustrations and object lessons.
And you’ll love that you can teach fun, engaging lessons without a lot of trouble, using easy-to-find, everyday objects.
Plus, like Debbie, Anne Marie has been blogging for quite a while. So if you’re searching for resources on a particular topic, you might be able to find it at Anne Marie’s site.

6) Ashley at Faithful Little Hands
Ashley posts the coolest crafts!! 😀
You won’t find standard, boring crafts at her site. Everything she shares has a unique twist—without being too hard to do.
Ashley also shares creative activities and super-cute snack ideas to go along with Bible lessons. You will LOVE how creative and fun her ideas are!
Plus, she gives easy-to-follow instructions and includes bright, clear pictures too.
Ashley’s site is definitely one of my top five recommendations for finding Bible crafts and activities. She’s still building her library of ideas, but the posts she’s already shared are top-notch!
A recommended post from Ashley: “Moses and the Burning Bush Blow Paint Craft.”
7) Alison at Pint Sized Treasures
I came across Alison on Instagram and I instantly loved her bright pictures and cute craft ideas. Although she doesn’t specifically post Bible crafts, she is a Christian—she’s a missionary, in fact! And as a mother of six, she definitely knows which crafts & activities work for kids.
All of her craft ideas are simple and very appealing to kids of all ages. So you could definitely use them in a number of ways, both at church and at home.
Plus, Alison also posts about marriage and motherhood. You will be personally encouraged when you stop by her blog, in addition to picking up fun activities you can do with your kiddoes.

And last but not least!
Finally, I want to mention Sue at Mama of Three Boys.
As you may have guessed, Sue is a mother of three, and she posts practical, applicable thoughts from the Word of God on her blog.
I met Sue through Instagram and we quickly realized that we share some mutual friends and have a lot in common. Since then, we’ve enjoyed talking about everything from blogging to what we’re learning from the Lord to opportunities we have to share His Word with others.
I appreciate Sue’s heart to encourage other women. She has definitely been an encouragement to me, both as a Christian and as a blogger.
Most recently, Sue blessed me by nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award!
That’s the motivation behind this post—I want to pass along the blessing and the encouragement by nominating all the ladies I listed above for the same award.
