Handprint Turkey Craft Instructions for Kids
Here’s how to make your own handprint turkey craft for Thanksgiving!
Supplies Needed:
- Red, orange, & yellow construction paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Turkey template
- Cardstock
- Glue stick
- Googly eyes
- Marker
Step 1: Make your handprints
Place your hand down on a sheet of construction paper and trace around it with a pencil. Use scissors to cut out the handprint. Repeat several times so that you have a 5-6 handprints in a variety of red, orange, and yellow.
Step 2: Prepare your turkey template
Download your free turkey template PDF file. Print out the template on white or light-colored cardstock. Then use scissors to cut it out.
Step 3: Glue the handprint “feathers” to the turkey template
Turn the turkey template over, face down. Use a glue stick to smear glue all over the back of the turkey. Lay your handprints spread out on the back of the turkey, so that the palms of the handprints are in the glue and the fingers fan out around the turkey template like feathers.
Step 4: Attach the googly eyes
Turn the turkey face up again. Peel the paper from the back of two googly eyes and place them on the dots on the face of the turkey.
Step 5: Practice thankfulness to complete your handprint turkey craft
Now encourage your kids to think of all the things that they are thankful for. Use a marker to write down the things they’re grateful for on the fingers of the handprints.
Then tape the turkey up in a window or hang it on the fridge as a reminder to practice gratefulness daily for the many blessings God has given!
