How to Order These Supplies
You could probably pick up some of these supplies from the dollar store or elsewhere, but sometimes you just need simple and easy! So in the lists below, I’ve linked only to Amazon. The idea is that you can place one straightforward order, and then ALL the supplies you need to teach your kids about Jesus’ birth from A Savior is Given: Leader’s Guide will arrive conveniently at your doorstep.
No hassle, no stress.
It doesn’t get any easier than that!
You’ll reuse some items from lesson to lesson, too, so although I list them again for each lesson, I’ve made clear notes about whether they were reused or not.
I do recommend getting an Amazon Prime membership for the fast, free shipping alone. When you do kids’ ministry, you’re always ordering some type of supplies. And it just saves so much worry when you know that you won’t be paying extra for shipping, and you’ll get your supplies quickly. To me, that’s worth the membership fee. At the bottom of this page, I’ve included a checklist of all the items needed for the entire curriculum, so you can see at a glance what you have and what you still need.
Now, let’s take a look at these supply lists!
Supplies Needed By Lesson
Lesson 1: Preparation for the Savior
Large gift bag – You can use any large, festive gift bag. I linked one a couple that I love from Amazon, but you could also grab one at the dollar store.
Baby doll #1 (to represent John the Baptist)
White robe – You could also use an “angel” costume, if you can find one, but I prefer to keep things simple and straightforward!
Whiteboard – To me, this is the ideal size (17″ x 23″) because it’s big enough to be seen by a group of kids, but small enough that you can still hold it one-handed. But if you have a very large group, you may want to get a bigger one.
Dry erase marker – I prefer the finer-tipped markers, especially for writing.
Lesson 2: Possibility of the Savior
Large gift bag – REUSED from Lesson 1. You could use different gift bags for each lesson, I think it creates a nice theme to use the same gift bag throughout the series.
White robe – REUSED from Lesson 1. You could also use an “angel” costume, if you can find one, but I prefer to keep things simple and straightforward!
Baby doll #2 (to represent Jesus; different than the one used in Lesson 1) – You will need 2 separate baby dolls. I’ve linked to the same type of doll, but I was careful to choose one in different clothing than the first one that was used for John the Baptist.

Dry erase marker – REUSED from Lesson 1. I prefer the finer-tipped markers, especially for writing.
Eraser – I love this handy magnetic eraser. You could also use tissue, but you’ll want probably want to grab some cleaning solution in case it doesn’t wipe the marker off enough.
Baby doll #1 (to represent John the Baptist) – REUSED from Lesson 1.
Lesson 3: Propitiation through the Savior
“Layaway” Printout – Find this inside your Leader’s Guide.
Large empty box – If you have an cardboard box handy, that would definitely work too. If you need to buy a box, I recommend a plastic one because they are so handy for storing and hauling kidmin supplies.
Set of Legos – If you don’t already own some, grab a set! They make an amazing open-ended activity for the beginning or end of your class time.
Baby doll #1 (to represent John the Baptist) – REUSED from Lessons 1 & 2.
Small chalkboard – I love the rustic style of this one.
Chalk – I like to have the option of using colored chalk as well as white chalk.
“Redemption” Printable – Find this inside your Leader’s Guide.
Marker – Again, you don’t have to use black. Color makes things more interesting for the kids!
Tape – I like painter’s tape because it doesn’t leave a sticky mark and you can use it in most places. But you may also be able to use regular Scotch tape, if you prefer.
“Rescue” Printable – Find this inside your Leader’s Guide.
“Remission” Printable – Find this inside your Leader’s Guide.
Lesson 4: Proclamation of the Savior
“Surprise!” Printable – Find this inside your Leader’s Guide.
Small gift bag – It’s fun to use a matched set of gift bags, so that the smaller one goes with the large one you used in previous lessons.
Tissue paper – This is optional, but recommended to help hide the paper inside the gift bag.
Baby doll #2 (to represent Jesus; different than the one used in Lesson 1) – REUSED from Lesson 2. You will need 2 separate baby dolls. I’ve linked to the same type of doll, but I was careful to choose one in different clothing than the first one that was used for John the Baptist.
Manger – Please note that this link is actually to a collapsible bamboo drying rack! I had zero luck finding an actual manger! I have no idea why. But this is close enough and will do the trick, especially if you remove the silverware bin from the side first.
Small blanket – I love these ones because they kind of go along with the “holiday” theme.
White robe – REUSED from Lesson 1. You could also use an “angel” costume, if you can find one, but I prefer to keep things simple and straightforward!
“Glory to God” Printable – Find this inside your Leader’s Guide.
Lesson 5: Praise for the Savior
Large gift bag – REUSED from Lesson 1. You could use different gift bags for each lesson, I think it creates a nice theme to use the same gift bag throughout the series.
“Wait” Printable – Find this inside your Leader’s Guide.
Calendar – You probably have this year’s calendar hanging on the wall somewhere that you can use, but I’ve linked a generic, undated one that you can use anytime.
“Ultimate Gift” Printable – Find this inside your Leader’s Guide.
Hole punch – Here’s a basic, inexpensive model if you don’t already have one.
String – You can use any type of string, yarn, or cord. I’ve linked jute cord, because I love the textured, rustic look it has.
