Poster of the Roman soldier in full armor
This poster is used over & over again throughout all the lessons in Prepared to Stand! It’s full-color and laminated, so you can draw on it with a dry-erase marker if desired. It can be difficult to find for sale, but I’ve done the hard work for you—here’s a link to the Roman soldier poster on Amazon!
Fine tip dry erase markers
I absolutely prefer the fine-tip dry erase markers—for everything! And you can use them for every single lesson about the Armor of God. You can circle or draw arrows on the poster of the Roman soldier to help your kids identify which piece of armor you’re learning about! Add my recommended fine tip dry-erase markers to your shopping cart to make sure you don’t forget them!
Roman soldier’s tunic
Use this Roman soldier’s tunic to help your kids understand what it means to “gird your loins”—and why the belt of truth is so important!
Whiteboard
This multi-purpose visual aid is used multiple times throughout the lesson plans on the Armor of God. The one I’m recommending here is large enough that a group of kids will be able to see it easily, yet small enough that you can hold it in one hand while writing or drawing on it. And it will be easy to transport from one location to another. You can use it with the fine tip dry erase markers that I linked to above. And here’s the link to my recommended whiteboard on Amazon!
Index cards
You’ll use an index card to demonstrate how the Roman soldier’s breastplate hinged. If you desire, you can pass out an index card to each kid. Allow the kids to fold their own index cards in the manner of the soldier’s breastplate. It will guarantee that they remember the concept that much better! You will also use these in Lesson 4: The Shield of Faith. Here’s an inexpensive pack of unlined index cards that will work perfectly!
Definition of “Righteousness” printout
You’ll use this definition as a visual aid during Lesson 2: The Breastplate of Righteousness. To save you the trouble of writing or typing it out yourself, I’ve created a handy little printable that you can print out in just a few seconds! Click here to open the “Definition of Righteousness” printable.
Dirty T-shirt
I seriously doubt that you’ll need to buy a dirty, ripped T-shirt. Surely you have one somewhere in your closet that you can use to illustrate how God views our human efforts to be righteous! But I did want to list it here so that you don’t miss it when you’re preparing for Lesson 2: The Breastplate of Righteousness. And just in case you do happen to need one, here’s a messy ripped T-shirt for you! ????
Oversized shoes or high heels
You’ll use these the demonstrate the need for proper footwear (as an introduction to Lesson 3: The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace). Again, I assume you’ll be able to find a pair you can use in your own closet. But just in case you can’t, here’s a hilarious pair of oversized shoes you could use. 😀
Definition of “Preparation” & “Peace” printouts
These are two simple visual aids you’ll use to explain the meaning of the preparation of the gospel of peace. But again, I want to make this as easy as possible for you! So instead of making you write or type out the definitions yourself, here’s a Preparation & Peace definitions printable for you. It’ll be quick & easy to print it out & go!
“Faith” Poster
In Lesson 4: The Shield of Faith, you will teach your kids how biblical faith is connected to truth, righteousness, & the gospel of peace. You’ll use the index cards listed above plus a small poster that says, “Faith.” You can make your own poster if you’d like. Or you can open my pre-made printable “Faith” mini-poster! ????
“The Word of God” booklet
For the last lesson on the Sword of the Spirit (a.k.a. the Word of God), you’ll use a mini-book to teach the kids three meanings of the Word of God. You can easily make your own booklet. Or you can also download my simple printable “Word of God” booklet to use during Lesson 6: The Sword of the Spirit!
And that is absolutely EVERYTHING you’ll need to teach the lessons found in Prepared to Stand: The Armor of God for Kids. Happy teaching! ????
